ELA · Round 3 · The Synthesis — Mechanics × Signature

Two signatures on one disciplined base

Rounds 1 and 2 explored what ELA could look like; neither survived the taste bar. Three research streams — the Mobbin anchor set (Flighty, CRED, Citizen, Brick, Opal), the 2026 frontier checklist, and the Lovable external take — converged on the same mechanics. Round 3 treats those mechanics as law and holds them identical across both variants: same screens, same copy, same hierarchy, same grey ladder. The variants differ in exactly one dimension — the ownable signature layer. Every decision under every frame traces to a named anchor or a numbered rule.

1 one accent, spent once 2 hierarchy by size jump (hero 3–5× body) 3 status = delta at the value; present expanded, past collapsed, future ghosted 4 one plain sentence under every status 5 one filled button; hold = inner sheen, never glow 6 ledger alignment, not containers 7 one real-world detail per screen

V1Ink Instrument

Heritage signature: security-print engraving on the calm base. The grammar of the one object every expat already trusts — engraved line-work, an oxblood field, receipts for what the server actually did. Accent spend per screen: home → the warm sheen inside the hold; active case → stamp-blue on the present step; ceremony and membership → the oxblood object. Serif appears once per screen, as the declarative line only.

tint model: Flighty Live Activity — the whole face goes stamp-blue-black while help is moving · numeral 42 vs 11 sub (rule 2) · secondary text tinted from the surface hue

What's ownable
The engraving is unfakeable at a squint — guilloché, hairline double borders, one oxblood field, a dated receipt chip. Cover the logo and the security-print layer still says ELA. Nothing else in the safety category looks like a passport office at 2 AM, and the passport is already the one document this member trusts with their life abroad.
Honest risk
Heritage can drift old-fashioned, and the line-work must render razor-fine — at 1× on OLED the 0.55 pt strokes are the difference between print and clipart. The system also carries two hues (oxblood for belonging, stamp-blue for status): rule 1 holds per screen, but the pairing must be policed forever or a screen eventually gets both.
Rules it stresses
Rule 1 (two hues in the system, one per screen — a standing discipline, not a default); rule 3 (the stamp chip flirts with badge-ness — kept mono, dated, singular); and the craft floor's print-not-clipart line on every engraved element.

V2Signal

Modern signature: the ELA teal as an owned instrument-lamp language. One lamp per screen, always on meaning: the shield inside the hold, the present step's delta, the annunciator line under the vow, the card's edge-light, the tinted glance. Everything else is the same grey ladder as V1. Red exists only during the hold — shown in the inset, nowhere else.

Flighty tint model: the whole face sits in deep teal-black while protection is active; in-case it re-tints by case state · numeral 42 (rule 2) · secondary text tinted from the hue

What's ownable
One teal lamp per screen — colour as instrument light, never decoration. The tinted glance face is the frontier move: Flighty's Live Activity model worn on the wrist, state readable from across a room. Recognisable from a single lit pixel; the discipline itself is the signature, which no amount of logo-covering defeats.
Honest risk
Teal is a crowded hue — one lapse of discipline (two lamps on one screen, a teal chip in a settings row) and this collapses into 2024 health-app mint. And the base is so quiet that a wrongly-placed lamp leaves the screen with no second voice; the system has no ornament to hide behind.
Rules it stresses
Rule 1 (teal wants to spread — edge-light, delta, and lamp must never co-occur on a screen); rule 5 (armed-red strictly confined to the hold gesture); and the present step's tinted field leans on rule 3's "optionally" clause — it must stay at whisper alpha or it becomes a second accent.

The three streams, one formula

Both variants are built from the same converged evidence. Every frame above cites its anchor; these are the sources.

How to score

  1. Squint test. Step back from the screen. Both should read as the same calm instrument; only the signature should survive the blur — engraving on one side, a lit lamp on the other.
  2. Cover the logo. Thumb over the key on any frame: can you still tell it's ELA? Which layer does the telling?
  3. The 2 AM question. You are in the back of a police car in Al Barsha. Which of these two signatures do you trust more — the document, or the instrument lamp?
  4. Mixing is allowed. The base is shared by construction, so signatures transplant cleanly: Signal's base with Ink's ceremony and membership object is a legal answer. Name any mix.
